Summary[edit]

Description

The National Science Board (NSB) and National Science Foundation (NSF) presented the Vannevar Bush, Alan T. Waterman, and Public Service awards to honorees at an evening ceremony at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., on May 6, 2014. Richard Tapia, a mathematician at Rice University’s Computational and Applied Mathematics Department, and a leader in mentoring minorities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, received the Vannevar Bush Award. The award honors lifelong leadership in science and technology and contributions to the nation through public service.
