Afriqiyah airline is an airline founded in 2001 in Tripoli, Libya, with the Libyan state taking a majority 51% stake. While the service is targeted at cross-continental Euro-African traffic, the branding is pan-African. The name itself comes from 9.Sept.1999, the date of the Sirte Declaration, establishing the African Union.

So far Afriqiyah seems to have built a reputation for being better than expected, with a number of new planes providing a good standard of service. Most of the criticisms have been around the standard of customer service should things begin to go wrong. [1]
