Andrea Mantegna (*1430/31 - 1506) was an outstanding northern Italian painter, engraver and occasional sculptor. By influence of his friend Alberti he also worked as an achitect.
From 1460 until his death he worked as the official court painter to the Gonzaga of Mantua.
