The Brodhaus (Bread house) is a half-timbered house at the market in Einbeck.

  • 1333: Augustine monk Henricus donates the prior building at this site in his testament to the bakers' guild.
  • 1540, 26 July: Destruction of the prior building in great city conflagration.
  • 1552: Reconstruction of the current building as guild hall of the bakers' guild.
    • Low Saxon (plattdüütsch) inscription on the front rafters:
      • "This is the will of God and the eternal life: You believe in Jesus Christ who was send by the father."
      • "Don't damnate, so that neither you shall be damnated, because in the same manner you damnate, you shall be damnated, and with the same measurement you measure, you shall again be measured."
    • At the jetty toward Muensterstrasse is a "Neidkopf" (jealousy head), probably intended to fend off and deflect jealousy and ill feelings.
