English: In several historical periods of Western fashion (including from about 1867 to 1908) bustles were worn as part of women's attire, under the skirt in back, just below the waist. The original purpose was to keep the skirt from dragging down, especially if the fabric was heavy. During the mid-1880's, the bustle became a major fashion feature in itself.
Deutsch: Die Turnüre (oder Tournure) ist eine Form des Reifrocks.
