  • Shield: Per bend Argent and Vert on the first a panther passant on division line, head to chief sable.
  • Crest: On a wreath of the colors Argent and Vert between two ruined towers Sable, the dexter charged with a fleur-de-lis Or and the sinister with an anchor of the like, a cubit arm in armor, the hand in a gauntlet Proper grasping two lightning flashes fesswise Gules.
  • Motto: VITESSE ET PUISSANCE (Speed and Power).

Symbolism[edit]

  • Shield:
  1. The shield is in the green and white of the Armored Force.
  2. The panther is symbolic of the tremendous power and striking ability of the Regiment.
  3. Being always alert, the black variety of panther is considered the most dangerous of all the feline family.
  • Crest:
  1. The two ruined towers bearing a fleur-de-lis and an anchor allude to the two areas, Europe and the Pacific.
  2. An element of the former organization was awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation for service in Europe.
  3. The Presidential Unit Citations (Navy) were awarded for service in the Pacific during World War II and the Korean War.
  4. The gauntlet and lightning flashes symbolize armor and striking power.

Description[edit]

  • A Silver color metal and enamel device 1⅛ inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per bend Argent and Vert on the first a panther passant on division line, head to chief Sable. Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Silver scroll inscribed “VITESSE ET PUISSANCE” in Black letters.

  1. The flag has a solid background with an embroidered American eagle displayed centered thereon. In its right talon the eagle holds an olive branch; in its left talon, a bundle of 13 arrows, all in proper colors. Its beak grasps a scroll inscribed with the unit motto. Below the eagle is a scroll inscribed with the designation of the organization. On the eagle’s breast is embroidered the shield of the coat of arms and the crest is above the eagle’s head, except that Regular Army units with no wartime service are not entitled to a crest. For those organizations with an approved badge in lieu of a coat of arms, the eagle’s breast is feathered and the badge is located above the eagle’s head.
