Français : L’abbaye de Cîteaux, berceau et chef de l’Ordre cistercien, fut fondée par Robert, abbé de Molesmes en 1098. Maison-mère, à la tête de plusieurs centaines de monastères ayant marqué pendant plus de sept siècles la vie spirituelle, économique et sociale du monde chrétien, elle fit de Cîteaux un centre spirituel majeur de l’Europe.
Deutsch: Kloster Cîteaux ist das Ursprungskloster und Ausgangspunkt des Zisterzienserordens. Von Cîteaux ausgehend wurden zwischen 1113 und 1115 die vier Primarabteien La Ferté, Pontigny, Morimond und Clairvaux gegründet.
Italiano: Cîteaux è un monastero situato in Borgogna. È la storica culla della Riforma Cistercense. In esso Bernardo di Chiaravalle iniziò la sua missione.
