The Christchurch Railway Station in Moorhouse Avenue was the second location for the station. An earlier building that opened in 1877 was demolished in 1959. The current building on that site was opened on 1 November 1960 and is registered by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust as a Category II heritage building with registration number 1848.
