In the Serenissima Respublica Poloniae only Nobility was entitled to use Coat of arms. Nevertheless some prominent Polish burgher families did/do have a crest (merchants from German origin mainly). Those coat of arms were/are not allowed to use the Polish nobleman crown and were/are in foreign armorials (German or Dutch or else), not in Polish armorials properly. - Something about Polish heraldry
