English: This category is for blank Compact Cassettes primarily marketed or designated for data storage use, and also for pre-recorded ones containing computer software. Compact Cassettes (i.e. "standard" audio cassettes) were used by many early microcomputers for data and software storage. Some blank cassettes were marketed specifically towards this use. Although technically no different from ordinary cassettes, they tended to have a much shorter running time, and used cheap tapes barely usable for audio applications.
The D/CAS streamer cassette is a direct derivative of audio Compact Cassette. D/CAS shell is different, but mechanically it is backward-compatible with audio cassette decks. The tape in D/CAS, however, is unusable for audio.
