English: Images of David Griffeath's cyclic cellular automaton, in which there are k states, and each cell in state i remains unchanged unless it has a neighbor in state (i + 1) mod k, in which case it takes on the neighbor's state. From two-dimensional random initial conditions, patches of color spread and spirals form.
