Labeoninae (and Garrinae) and Squaliobarbinae are sometimes included here. The "Barbinae" (including Schizothoracinae) need to be included here in any case, because they are highly paraphyletic with the Cyprininae. Some small African barbs might be a new subfamily however, particularly if the Labeoninae are considered distinct too.
