English: Dura-Europos ("Fort Europos") was a Hellenistic, Parthian and Roman border city built on an escarpment ninety meters above the right bank of the Euphrates river. It is located near the village of Salhiyé, in today's Syria. It was a Roman fortress town from 165 to 256 CE. In 256 it was destroyed by the Parthians and never rebuilt.
Nederlands: Dura Europos ("Fort Europos") is een Hellenistische, Parthische en Romeinse grensstad gelegen op een 90 m. hoge klip op de rechteroever van de Eufraat tussen Busayrah en Abu Kamal.
