The theater was designed by James Renwick, Jr. (Source: Londré, Felicia Hardison and Watermeier, Daniel J. The History of North American Theatre. Continuum International, New York, 2000; p. 171).
It opened 1869-02-03, was sold at auction 1883-02 by Oliver Ames and Oakes A. Ames to James D. Fish and Ferdinand Ward, and closed 1883-04-30. (Source: Brown, Thomas Allston A History of the New York Stage, Vol. 3. Dodd, Mead and Company, New York, 1903; pp. 95 and 144). They demolished it later the same year, replacing it with stores for dry goods.
