English: The Minster of Ss. Mary, Cosmas and Damian in Essen, Germany, was rebuild after a fire 1275, with a westwork and crypt of the elder church around 1000. The church contains the Golden Madonna and a sevenarmed lighter, which were made between 973 and 1011. Since 1956 the Minster serves as cathedral of the so-called Ruhr area diocese of Essen.
