Flensburg Förde, in Danish Flensborg Fjord, in German Flensburger Förde, geologically is no fjord. True fjords like the Norwegian ones were carved out by ice descending from the mountains to the sea. The bays on the eastern coast of Jutland peninsula were carved outr by tongues of an ice shield on the sea that moved ffrom the dea upon the land. In German, this type of a bays are called Förde (plural: Förden). In Danish, the term fjord doesn't implicate any specification at all. Even the lagoons on the western coast of Jutland are called fjords, such as Ringkøbing Fjord and Stadil Fjord
