English: Genre painting refers (originally) to paintings of ordinary people in everyday circumstances. Later usage included historical settings for ordinary events, and even the appearance of great historical figures in their private moments.
Español: La Pintura de género originalmente hacía referencia a la representación pictórica de gente común en circunstancias de su vida cotidiana. Posteriormente el uso del término se ha extendido a la descripción de hechos corrientes dentro de un contexto histórico, e incluso a la representación de grandes figuras de la historia en momentos de su vida personal.
