Each year Greenfield Village celebrates the Memorial Day weekend with its Civil War Remembrance. This event features more than 400 Civil War reenactors who camp in the Village over the weekend. Attractions include infantry, cavalry, and artillery demonstrations, as well as a reenactors' ball, and special memorial events to commemorate the service of United States military veterans. In past years the reenactment has been known by different names, held on different weekends, and included the portrayal of additional periods from US history (e.g. American Revolutionary War).
