Isobutyl compounds are chemical compounds formally derived from isobutane by replacement of one of the three hydrogen atoms on a terminal carbon (i.e. carbon #1) with other atoms or functional groups. Isobutyl compounds contain the isobutyl group, C4H9, and have the general formula C4H9X, where X is any chemical element or group.
