The UK winter of 2010-2011 (also known as the Big Freeze) brought heavy snowfalls, record low temperatures, travel chaos and school disruption to the Great Britain and Ireland. The first round of snow came over late November - early December, with the second round starting on 15 December, with a large area of the country affected by 18 December following more heavy snow.
