Things which should be included in this category are images of abstract concepts such as mathematical illustrations as well as generic objects without an identifiable surrounding such as a fork or a person.
This category is mutually exclusive with Category:Media with locations.
This category has several applications:
- Buildings lists of things which still need to be geocoded, since ideally every item would either be a member of this category or have a location.
- Searching for items which do or don't have a location once we have a search system which supports category intersections.
- Detecting geocoding vandalism.
Medien in dieser Kategorie sind beispielsweise Konzepte wie Mathematische Illustrationen, Objekte die an beliebigen Orten hätten fotografiert werden können (Autos, Gegenstände, Personen, Kunstwerke, ...), ohne dass der Hintergrund eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Diese Kategorie stellt den Gegenpart zu Category:Media with locations dar.
Diese Kategorie bietet folgende Vorteile:
- Es kann Vandalismus besser detektiert werden (Geocoding von "Ungeliebten Bildern"(Human Feces, Penis, etc.) auf Sehenswürdigkeiten, Städte, Das Weisse Haus)
- Die hier kategorisierten Bilder tauchen im Geocoding-Todo-Tool nicht mehr auf
- Die Kategorie kann automatisch ausgewertet werden, wenn man Details eines Dinges sehen will, kann dann diese Kategorie zum Schnitt verwenden
- Irgendwann sollen alle Bilder auf commons geocodiert worden sein...
- Der Nutzen für den "normalen" "Leser" der Bilder ist natürlich ungefähr null, aber der "normalen" "Leser" sieht diese Kategorie nicht, da sie versteckt ist.
