Deutsch: Die Heilige Maria Bernarda Bütler (Bürgerlicher Name: Verena Bütler; * 28. Mai 1848 in Auw (AG), Schweiz; † 19. Mai 1924 in Cartagena, Kolumbien) war eine katholische de:Missionarin und de:Ordensgründerin. 1892 gelang ihr aus einem Filialkloster eine neue Kongregation zu gründen, die mit dem Namen «de:Franziskaner-Missionsschwestern von Maria Hilf» (FMMH) 1938 von Papst de:Pius XI. offiziell anerkannt wurde. Mutter Maria Bernarda, Oberin ihrer Kongregation, gründete mehrere Filialklöster und Schulen in Equador (St.Anna, Canoa) und in Kolumbien (Tucuerres), wo das christliche Leben aufblühte.
English: Sr. Maria Bernarda Bütlter (1848-1924), born Verena Bütler, is a Swiss saint. She founded the Congregation of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Mary, Help of Christians and was a missionary in Ecuador. Eventually, her congregation would have houses in Colombia, Austria, and Brazil. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 29, 1995 and was canonized on October 12, 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI.
