A Miscellany is a type of medieval manuscript which contains a variety of texts. Miscellanies may contain texts that are somehow related (e.g. a collection of theological works, by a variety of authors), or they may contain completely unrelated texts (e.g. a liturgical calender, and treatises on chess.) Some miscellanies were created by later owners of manuscripts binding unrelated mauscripts into a single a volume, while others were were created as a Miscellany.
