English: The Northern Areas or Gilgit Agency, now the Gilgit-Baltistan province (established 2010), is the northernmost region of Pakistan and greater geographic Kashmir.
- Gilgit-Baltistan is home to some of the world's highest mountains including five of the Eight-thousanders. Most of the mountains, including K2, Gasherbrum, Masherbrum and Rakaposhi are in Karakoram range, but some mountains like Nanga Parbat (the second highest in Pakistan) are in western Himalaya range. The Hindu Kush range is in the northwestern section.
