Propyl compounds are chemical compounds formally derived from propane by replacement of one of the three hydrogen atoms on the terminal carbon (i.e. carbon #1) with other atoms or functional groups. Isopropyl compounds contain the propyl group, C3H7, and have the general formula C3H7X, where X is any chemical element or group.
