- One of four parks protecting Coast Redwood groves in the Redwood National and State Parks group.
- The Redwood National and State Parks group preserves about 45% of all remaining old-growth forests of Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens). The Sequoia that is tallest tree on earth is also here, unmarked.
- Besides the redwood forests, the parks group protects a section of pristine California Coastline; habitats of California coastal prairie grasslands; as well as systems of rivers, creeks, ponds, and lakes.
