English: A repeater is an electronic device that receives a signal and retransmits it at a higher level and/or higher power, or onto the other side of an obstruction, so that the signal can cover longer distances. The different types of repeater include telephone line repeaters, an amplifier that increases the strength of the signal in a telephone cable, optical repeaters that increase the strength of the light beam in an optical fiber cable, and radio and television repeaters which consist of a radio receiver and transmitter which rebroadcast a radio or television signal
