- It should be remembered, the world anticipated Egyptian hieroglyphs being read, rather strongly-post the stele's discovery. Cuneiform was also untranslated, but the en:Behistum Inscription-(3 languages) was immediately addressed, and by the mid-1800s, many major cuneiform languages were being tackled with the items already available in museums/collections, etc.
