English: In medicine, Rubella or German Measles is a common childhood infectious disease caused by rubella-virus. It lasts about three to five days. Infection of the mother by Rubella virus during pregnancy can be serious; if the mother is infected within the first 20 weeks of pregnancy, the child may be born with congenital rubella syndrom.
Deutsch: Röteln sind eine hochansteckende Infektionskrankheit, die durch das Röteln-Virus hervorgerufen wird. Sie gehören zu den klassischen Kinderkrankheiten. Eine Infektion während der Schwangerschaft kann allerdings schwerwiegende Folgen für das ungeborene Kind haben. Bei diesem kann die Infektion zu angeborenen Fehlbildungen, der Rötelnembryofetopathie führen.
