English: Shakespeare and Company is an independent bookstore located in the 5th arrondissement, in Paris's Left Bank/Rive Gauche. The original bookstore's proprietor was Sylvia Beach. It was located at 12 rue de l'Odéon and was open from 1919 to 1941. During this era, the store was considered to be a center of Anglo/American literary culture in Paris.
