English: Small internal-combustion piston engines, typically used on farms or other rural locations to provide power in the mid-20th century, before widespread electricity distribution. Although other engines such as large generator sets might be "stationary" and not moving, convention is that the term "stationary engine" is reserved for these smaller engines.
