Deutsch: Die Hansestadt Stralsund ist eine kreisfreie Stadt in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern im Norden Deutschlands. Die Stadt liegt am Strelasund, einer Meerenge der Ostsee, und wird auf Grund ihrer Lage als Tor zur Insel Rügen bezeichnet. Die Altstadt gehört seit 2002 zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe mit dem Titel Historische Altstädte Stralsund und Wismar.
English: Stralsund (Slavic origin: Stralov) is a city in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. It is situated at the southern coast of the Strelasund (a sound of the Baltic Sea separating the island of Rügen - Slavic origin: Rana - from the mainland). A bridge (the Rügendamm) and several ferry services connect Stralsund with the ports of Rügen.
