English: Suzhou — a famous ancient city on the lower Chang Jiang—Yangtze River, in Jiangsu Province, southeastern China.
  • The city is renowned for its beautiful canals/bridges, temples/pagodas, and Classical Chinese gardens. Suzhou has been a center for China's silk industry since the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
  • Simplified Chinese: 苏州; Traditional Chinese: 蘇州; Hanyu Pinyin: Sūzhōu; Wade-Giles: Su-chou; & sometimes transliterated as Su-chow, Suchow, or Soochow.
