Tientism is a new religion that originated between the late 19th century and the late 20th century. It is divided in two branches: Orthodox Tientism (天德聖教, Tiandejiao or Tiandeshengjiao), that was founded in Sichuan by Xiao Changming (蕭昌明) in 1899; and Reformed Tientism (天帝教, Tiandijiao or Tientijiao), originated in Taiwan in 1978 and based on the teaching of Li Yujie (李玉階). Tientism is part of the group named Xiantianism.
