English: Valpolicella is a viticultural zone of the province of Verona, Italy, east of Lake Garda. The hilly agricultural and marble-quarrying region of small holdings north of the Adige is famous for wine production. Valpolicella ranks just after Chianti in total Italian Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) wine production. The red wine known as Valpolicella is typically made from three grape varietals: Corvina Veronese, Rondinella, and Molinara. A variety of wine styles are produced in the area, including a recioto dessert wine and Amarone, a strong wine made from dried grapes. Most basic Valpolicellas are light, fragrant table wines in flavor. These wines can be produced in a nouveau style, similar to Beaujolais nouveau and released after only a few weeks after harvest. Valpolicella Classico is made from grapes grown in the original Valpolicella production zone. Valpolicella Superiore is aged at least one year and has an alcohol content of at least 12 percent. Valpolicella Ripasso is a form of Valpolicella Superiore made with partially dried grape skins that have been left over from fermentation of Amarone or recioto. (→Valpolicella)

Français : Le Valpolicella est un vin italien sec de la région de Vénétie doté d'une appellation DOC depuis le 27 décembre 1990. Seuls ont droit à la DOC les vins rouges récoltés à l'intérieur de l'aire de production définie par le décret. Les vignobles autorisés se situent près des vignobles de Bardolino et Soave en province de Vérone dans les communes de Negrar, Marano di Valpolicella, Fumane, Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella et San Pietro in Cariano pour la zone classico. Les autres communes sont Dolcè, Verona, San Martino Buon Albergo, Lavagno, Mezzane di Sotto, Tregnago, Illasi, Colognola ai Colli, Cazzano di Tramigna, Grezzana, Pescantina, Cerro Veronese, San Mauro di Saline et Montecchia di Crosara. Famosa per la viticoltura che qui si realizza, comprende il territorio di 7 comuni della provincia di Verona nella regione Veneto. Confina a sud con il fiume Adige, a ovest è delimitata dalle colline di Parona e di Quinzano mentre a nord si estende fino ai Monti Lessini. Norsk bokmål: Valpolicella er en italiensk vin fra Veneto i Nord-Italia. Vin fra Veneto ble på 1990-tallet sett på som billig bordvin, mens den mot 2005 har fått en høyere status. Årsaken er gunstig pris og fleksibilitet. Området har et stort mangfold av viner, som valpolicella, ripassovin, amarone og recioto. Valpolicella har følgende blanding av druer: Corvina Veronese (40-70%), Rondinella (20-40%) og Molinara (5-20%).Produsenten kan også bruke inntil 15% andre druer som Rossignola, Negrara, Trentina, Barbera og Sangiovese. Vinen er ofte mindre taninrik enn viner fra f.eks. Toscana og Piemonte. (→Valpolicella)
