Road location subcat[edit]

The road location subcats are useful for this category. If you feel otherwise, please discuss here prior to removal so consensus can be achieved. Semper Fi! FieldMarine (talk) 02:54, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Zoo is not a part of the road, it is merely next to the road, hardly a defining characteristic of the Zoo, and only tangentially related to the roadway. IMHO, that's not enough of a connection to make a category about the Zoo (which is mostly populated with animals) a subcategory of the road. However, individual photos related to both the zoo and the road can be in both categories.Imzadi 1979  03:02, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The zoo is located on Wickham Road & Wickham Road is the zoo's address, so I believe it is a valid subcat, IMHO. I don't see how it detracts from the category & there are plenty of street locations as subcats in the Commons. Semper Fi! FieldMarine (talk) 03:10, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, other stuff exists, and we're not talking about other stuff here. Most of this category has nothing to do with the road. There are 21 images in here and 19 of them are animals. One is a sign at the entrance to the zoo on the county road in question, and the other is a sign on a different road. That's not much of a connection to make the Zoo category a subcategory of the Road category. Now, to flip the direction of that relationship for a moment (i.e. making the Road category a subcategory of the Zoo category) might be plausible. If more photos of the external portion of the Zoo along the Road were there, I could see that relationship being established. Since there aren't, at this time, that makes the inverse of the category relationship unnecessary. I say categorize the one Zoo-related photo that applies to the Road in both and sever the relationship. Imzadi 1979  03:22, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IMHO, the animal files at the zoo should be in a subcat "Animals at Brevard Zoo", since there are 19 files & likely to grow, but's that's a separate discussion. The Zoo's address at Wickham shows a clear association & thus a valid reason to have Wickham as a subcat. Having a road location as a subcat provides searchers with the ability to see all structures located on that road by name instead of just random files. IMHO, searching by cats in Commons is more difficult then Wikipedia because the file names are very non-standard. FieldMarine (talk) 04:17, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
