Category talk:Christ Church and Holy Family (Brooklyn)
AIAA Guide says yes, but nobody else that I can quickly find, and the former existence of Holy Family Episcopal in nearby Brooklyn Heights suggests to my suspicious mind that the learned and industrious editors of the Guide made a slip. Jim.henderson (talk) 16:40, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- Check out the Brooklyn Council of Churches here, and also the URL of the parish's website, which is "cchf", for "Christ Church and Holy Family".
My guess is that at some point Christ Church parish was combined with Holy Family parish and the joint name was created, but enough time has passed that there's no one around to object to the parish returning to a simpler name. Similar to Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims reverting this year to plain Plymouth Church, or any number of combined Roman Catholic parishes which are currently carrying very clunky combined names. I'm sure that combining parishes is traumatic for the parishioners, and the powers-that-be use the combo names as one way of mollifying people. Beyond My Ken (talk) 18:25, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- Excellent. It shows how the hasty can make mistakes that can be fixed with patient digging. Nice to see so much good cat wrangling in Brooklyn; perhaps you'll want to add some important street categories such as Willoughby Street, and eventually want to return to Manhattan to try clearing away the hash I made long ago by creating cats for Midtown "Between E x and E y Streets".
