Requested move ["Lent" to "Lent (Christianity)"][edit]

The equivalent article at WP is at en:Lent so there isn't much need to move this on. -- User:Docu at 03:59, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

En wikipedia is a reference for naming, certainly not for disambiguation. Lent causes potential confusion with the various possible Lent villages in France, Slovenia, the Netherlands ... as can be seen in Special:PrefixIndex/Category:Lent and en:Lent (disambiguation). If more than 60 % of the images in this category are not belonging here, then you know that you have to disambiguate. --Foroa (talk) 08:17, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
In your move request, you did reference en.wikipedia for disambiguation.
Anyways, currently, there is only one upload from a user that didn't pick a Netherlands tag elsewhere. No wonder it's wrong here too. You will always have one that can go wrong, even if you rename the category. Besides that, if you hadn't just made a category for Category:Lent, Nijmegen, there was just one other file about Lent in France. If you look elsewhere you will see that there are tens of thousands of files that would fit here and just a few that wouldn't. -- User:Docu at 08:15, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
The basic category name rule from COM:Cat: "The category name would be enough to guess the subject". This is clearly not the case here where en:Lent (disambiguation) has worlwide 5 to 10 known different meanings, 3 already used here, half of the images in this Lent category are wrongly categorised: just enough to prove that the disambiguation is badly needed. --Foroa (talk) 23:09, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
If you double check what you just did, you will notice that you already disambiguated by creating Category:Lent, Nijmegen. The only thing you have to do is to finish moving all relevant files there. If you are not sure about the meaning of the word "Lent" you can look it up and add a category description to Category:Lent. -- User:Docu at 07:50, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
I think, the Christian meaning is very more common and known meaning than some villages. See Category:Paris and Paris (disambiguation) as a precedent. However if would be needed to use a disambiguation, a little better word should be chosen. All villages named "Lent" are in Christian areas too and Lent isn't a sort of Christianity. What about "(fast)", "(fasting period)" or something like that? --ŠJů (talk) 01:17, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

New Proposal Category:Lent (fasting period)[edit]

  • Symbol support vote.svg Support --Foroa (talk) 17:44, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Symbol support vote.svg Support the current category name "Lent", per en:Lent. --  Docu  at 01:13, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
  • Pictogram voting comment.svg Comment was working through request for moves oldr than 50 days, I recognise consensus is for the use of (fasting period) as the disambiguator though IMHO I think (Christian tradition), even (Christian practice) are clearer disambiguators. Looks like this was moved despite there being no consensus .. any reason for this? --  Docu  at 06:29, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
