Metropolitan Opera[edit]

Where does the article in The Architect -- or any other source -- say this theatre was built for the Metropolitan Opera? Hamblin (talk) 00:15, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

In my opinion, the opening is still misleading; it sounds like the purpose was opera, and plays were incidental, whereas the opposite was true: “Envisioned in 1906 by Heinrich Conried, a director of the Metropolitan Opera House, its construction was an attempt to establish a great theatre at New York free of commercialism, one that, broadly speaking, would resemble the Comédie Française of Paris.” -- en:Century Theatre Two performances a week is a minority, right?

The pictures are very nice, by the way. Hamblin (talk) 15:36, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

No problem. I mainly was focused on explaining why the Met category is here. Feel free to improve further. --Robert.Allen (talk) 18:55, 15 March 2013 (UTC)
