Move request[edit]

While in the Dictionary (well in the Collins English Dictionary) pylon does mean a steel tower which supports electrical cables but the issue is the name "pylon" is ambiguous, since pylons have different meanings depending on the language and/or country. --Bidgee (talk) 23:31, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

yes they are ambiguous technically, but what i understand by pylon is the thing holding up electricity wires. As the category here contains huge numbers of electricity pylons and just a few other kinds, I think most people expect this too. I dont know how much of an issue it is to add electricity in front of hundreds of entries? Also, an alternate category of 'power lines' which is being used synonymously already exists. I am not certain that the category 'pylon' could not be completely abolished and replaced entirely by its sub categories promoted to the layer above. Most pylons right now are 'Lattice steel pylons'Sandpiper (talk) 01:02, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Symbol support vote.svg Support move Because of the ambiguity, I would be in favor of moving "pylons" to "electricity pylons" (or some similar name). Michael Barera (talk) 21:09, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
