Category talk:Suicide attack

Do not change to the plural! The singular was used to connote the tactic- so that weapons for conducting Suicide attacks could have the category applied. If people want one on suicide attacks, terrorist attacks/ homocide bombings- whatever- that is fine. This is just about images illustrating the tactic.

This could be somewhat controversial category, because it is a subcat of "Military tactics".

There is no doubt that Japan made the calculation that it was cheaper both in lives and planes lost to send out a single explosives laden aircraft rather than several score aircraft to achieve the same results. Today, various armed groups make the same calculation. However, because civilians are often the target of such attacks, refering to them as "military" for some implies that some attempt is being made to drape a shrowd of legitimacy over an event that is from their POV the moral equivalent of murder.

The US Military is not alone in the world in recognition that regardless what the moral question is, their country is vulnerable to a particular military tactic that their adversaries could use on them. These militaries counter the threat with various military countermeasures just as with any other tactic.

So let's maintain NPOV on the legitimacy of the target of the attack, (eg- questions of whether it is murder or the killing has some shrowd of legitimacy)- because the talk would be endless- we could be talkomg about the London Blitz or Dresden attacks on civilians.

Category Merger[edit]

I think Suicide attack and Suicide terrorism are basically the same thing as all Suicide attack are Suicide terrorism. I see no reason for two different categories.--ARTEST4ECHO talk 21:29, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

I agree and support the rename from "Suicide attack" to "Suicide terrorism". Orrlingtalk 16:31, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
