Renaming to "Category:Towada class replenishment ships" and "Mashū class replenishment ships"[edit]

"Fast combat support ship" is a U.S. ship category and it may not be suitable for the Towada class, because its maximum speed is slower (22 kt) than the Sacrament class (26 kt). MoD of Japan translates "とわだ型補給艦" as Towada class supply vessel, but replenishment oiler seems to be the more accepted classification (e.g., Eric Wertheim, Naval Institute Guide to Combat Fleets of the World: Their Ships, Aircraft, and Systems, ISBN 159114955X, p.395). While Wertheim also categorizes the Mashū class as "replenishment oiler" (ibid), it is faster (24 kt) than the Towada class, and it may be the equivalent of the US "fast combat support ships".
Given the Japanese classification "補給艦", "Towada class replenishment ships" and "Mashū class replenishment ships" are more neutral and troubleless names for the Towada class and the Mashū class.--トトト (talk) 07:25, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
