There's a long-standing confusion here (largely due to uploads fromn other sites) between West Midlands (the region) and West Midlands (the metropolitan county). This has meant that there have been some bizarre categorisations of images. In UK counties, the prevailing method of catwegorisation seems to have been (1) by constituent country (2) by ceremonial county as defined by the 1974 reforms, as modified by the more recent reinstatements of, e.g. Rutland. (3) if the county is large enough, by metropolitan boroughs or unitary authorities within those counties (4) if there are enough for towns, cities and villages, by that level. This, I believe, is the appropriate level of, and method of, granularity we should be aiming for. Rodhullandemu (talk) 01:26, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
