I'd like to put myself up for administrator rights. I occasionally upload images to an incorrect name, or more frequently upload them for help with identification. I'd like the ability to delete or move the images which I upload. Image:Blossom 5455.jpg is a current example of an image which I have not yet identified and would move once I do and Image:Crested Tern Tasmania.jpg is an example of an image that needed a wrongly named page deleted. The reduction in hassle would probably lead me to upload more images for identification. Noodle snacks (talk) 23:26, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

    • See this nomination passed for similar reasons. Noodle snacks (talk) 22:02, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
      • That was 2006. For worse (not better) standards have undoubtedly risen. How do you turn this on (talk) 23:38, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
        • Aye, Perhaps there should be a user class which has limited image move/delete rights. There are about 1200 images in the duplicate category at present, and allowing slightly more trusted uploaders the ability to move/delete images they have provided would probably ease that backlog considerably. • There is the concept of 'Trusted Users'. They are able to put {{rename}}-Tags in images with wrong names and also confirm the tags of those users who are not trusted users. Then a bot does the whole moving in the correct way (with licences in consideration). Only after this renaming an admin is necessary and this is sensible work since it affects all the other projects. Just deleting a image is not enough. The admin first has to replace the images in all projects which use it. Therefor (s)he gets access to a bot which can cause much harm if not used properly not only here but in all the other projects. so the user who gets access to those tools really needs to have a better reason than just wanting to delete his own uploads. Go to Commons:MediaMoveBot/CheckPage and request renaming-permission on the talk page. But IMO this is no reason for admin rights. • Symbol oppose vote.svg Oppose Per Abf. And maybe it is better to start uploading under the right name, than you don't have to delete. Sterkebaktalk 08:53, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
    • No practical method to post images for identification without doing so. I don't mind sticking with "speedy deletion" tags, but I have placed them in images ages ago and they are still sitting there. Noodle snacks (talk) 09:29, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
      • Actually it never takes really long to work through this categorys, if the user used the correct template and provided all information. The only problem we currently have is that the tool-server causes problems quite often and we can't delete before we haven't checked if the duplicate is used in another project. Donate some money for a toolserver-update. That will actually really help with the duplicate-deletions. -- Cecil (talk) 14:22, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

  • I'd rather not pile on with an oppose so I'd suggest you to just withdraw this request. Try in a few more months, and read the suggestions given in the vote section. I believe you'll make it then and withdrawing now will be less stressful then waiting a week getting maybe the same votes, at least my opinion.
