The Koninklijke Bibliotheek (KB) is the National Library of the Netherlands. Founded in 1798, it now contains over 6 million items: over 110 kilometers of books, newspapers and magazines.


Image donations so far[edit]

Planned image donations in 2015[edit]

The KB is planning to donate the following images sets to Commons in 2015 (mainly using the GLAMwiki uploadtool):

May 2015[edit]
  1. 446 images from Atlas van der Hagen (these will be added to the Category:Atlas van der Hagen. The images will be taken from http://www.geheugenvannederland.nl/?/en/collecties/atlassen.
  2. 133 images from Atlas Beudeker from the British Library (these will be added to the Category:Atlas Beudeker. The images will be taken from http://www.geheugenvannederland.nl/?/en/collecties/atlassen.
  3. 2579 images from Atlas Schoemaker. This atlas displays topographical drawings, descriptions and prints of Dutch towns, villages and hamlets in the early 18th century. The images will be added to Category:Atlas Schoemaker and will be taken from http://www.geheugenvannederland.nl/?/en/collecties/schoemaker.

By the end of May the most important digitalised atlasses of the KB will have been fully donated to Commons.

Date tbd 2015[edit]
  1. 1280 catchpenny prints (see placeholder Category:Catchpenny prints from Koninklijke Bibliotheek. The images will be taken from http://www.geheugenvannederland.nl/?/en/collecties/centsprenten. Some more background about this collection is given on the KB-site
  2. Broadsheet collection. These are government publications, maps, prints and occasional poetry. The images will be taken from http://www.geheugenvannederland.nl/?/en/collecties/planos
  3. Picture books from 1810 to 1944. The images will be taken from http://www.geheugenvannederland.nl/?/en/collecties/prentenboeken_van_1810_tot_1950
  4. 556 images from the proceedings of Dutch Parliamant (maps, drawings). These CC0-images will be taken from http://www.statengeneraaldigitaal.nl/kaarten
  5. 11.141 illuminations (illustrations and decorations) from 400 mediaeval manuscripts. These will be added to the Category:Manuscripts from Koninklijke Bibliotheek. See http://kb.nl/en/data-services-apis/medieval-illuminated-manuscripts.
  6. Selection of rights-free images from alba amicorum (books of friendship) from the collection of the KB. These will be added to the Category:Alba_amicorum_from_Koninklijke_Bibliotheek. Images will be taken from Europeana
  7. 4810 title pages from books from the period 1780-1800 from the collection of the KB. The title pages will be taken from Delpher
  8. Covers pages from (yet to be) selected historic Dutch and colonial newspapers from the public domain. The cover pages will be taken from Delpher
