[edit] Adding a request

  • First try to find an image on your own (see help on public domain image resources)
  • Add your request to a subcaption (create a subcaption if necessary. Any language OK, English preferred) in the request page:
    • One request for one image only.
    • Link to a page where you want the image to be placed (any Wikipedia article / Wikimedia project page OK).
    • If possible, include an external link to a picture about the request.
    • Sign your request in case there are questions (use ~~~~).

[edit] Upload requested image

  • Upload the image, provide licensing information, source, and description.
  • Either
    • Add a line here that you uploaded the image, or
    • Remove the request from this list.

    • This image apparently comes from a book by Camille Flammarion (possibly the same one as the famous Flammarion woodcut), and is presumably PD. We could probably use the poster (per Bridgeman v. Corel), but it would be better to find the original source. This one looks even nicer, but has no information about the source. There's another very similar image here — it's not quite identical, but the details are similar enough that they're probably based on the same original. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 22:27, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
    • Googling for the caption suggests that the Flammarion book the first image is from may actually be Histoire du ciel. Also found yet another version of the second image here. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 22:51, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

There is this cartogram (or anamorphic map) at [15]. With following conditions: Permission is hereby granted for the use and distribution by others of the text and figures on this page for noncommercial purposes. Go ahead and send them to your friends, post them on your blog, use them in school. Whatever. My only request is that you either give a link to this page or just mention that the maps were made by me. (Or both, if you're feeling particularly enthusiastic.). I'm not sure if this qualifies for Wikimedia use. Also there is worldmapper with following disclaimer: Permission will usually be granted to non-profit organisations, and we welcome enquiries from other interested parties.
