From Wikimedia Commons, the free media repository
Wikimedia Foundation operates several other multilingual and free-content projects:
| Meta-Wiki Wikimedia project coordination |
Wikipedia Free Encyclopedia |
Wikiquote Collection of quotations |
|||
| Wikibooks Free textbooks and manuals |
Wikinews Free content news source |
Wikisource Free source documents |
|||
| Wiktionary Dictionary and thesaurus |
Wikispecies Directory of species |
Wikiversity Free learning materials |
These templates are designed to provide article-to-article linking between Meta-Wiki and its Wikimedia sister projects.
This page is about coordination in the names and parameter uses in all of this kind of Wikimedia templates.

[edit] General considerations
Par is used generally in the template name to point to a concrete page name in a sister project (i.e.wikiquotepar).
[edit] Wikiquote
Pages needing to be moved:
Links to pages to the Wikiquote site:
- Template:Wikiquote (uses PAGENAME)
- Template:Wikiquotepar (uses parameter as in {{Template:Wikiquotepar|SomePage}})

| {{Wikiquotepar}} |

[edit] Wiktionary
Pages needing to be moved:
Links to pages on the Wiktionary site:
- Box format
- Template:Wiktionary (uses PAGENAME and generates a search rather than linking directly to a page — because Wiktionary article titles are fully case sensitive, this may not yield the desired result)
- Template:Wiktionarypar (uses parameter as in {{Wiktionarypar|SomePage}})
- Template:Wiktionarypar2 (uses 2 parameters as in {{Wiktionarypar2|Page1|Page2}})
- Template:Wiktionarypar3 (uses 3 parameters as in {{Wiktionarypar3|Page1|Page2|Page3}})
- Template:Wi (uses PAGENAME), used for dictionary definitions
- To define a word in-line with other text, create an interwiki link in the format: [[wiktionary:SomeWord|definition of SomeWord]].

[edit] Wikinews
Moving pages to Wikinews is not possible, for legal reasons. (Copying material to Wikinews would put it under a creative commons attribution-only license, which violates the GFDL.)
Links to pages on the Wikinews site:
- Box format
- Template:Wikinews (uses a parameter as in {{Wikinews|SomeArticleTitle}})
- Template:Wikinewscat (uses parameter as in {{Wikinewscat|SomeCategoryTitle}})
- To link in-line with other text, create an interwiki link in the format: [[Wikinews:SomeArticleTitle|reference to the Wikinews article]].
