[edit] idw
I am not sure about the idw. Should it be {{idw|All your images|Images of XYZ}} ? It would work eventhough "All your images" will be a red link. Is there a way to get around it? / Fred J 17:56, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Use of template
I found that using the template as is explained here makes every single image nominated end up in the "Incomplete deletion requests" even though subpage etc. are created. In my experience with fixing these incomplete requests, {{delete|reason|pagename}} or even {{delete|reason}} isn't enough, it needs a date, and possibly the template as is outlined on the deletion template (so including the "reason=" etc.) although I've never tried it without. Perhaps someone can look into this? Thanks. Deadstar (msg) 19:26, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- I beg to differ with you. Image:Sample image by XYZ.jpg followed the use as explained here and did not end up in the "Incomplete deletion requests". — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 07:17, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Kurosawa screenshots
I'm not at the commons much so I thought I'd mention this here in case I don't get around to following up on this. There was a court case in Japan which effectively ruled that Akira Kurosawa's films will remain under copyright until 2036.[1] There's about 200 or so screenshots in the various subcategories of Category:Akira Kurosawa (the posters are fine but actual images from the films are copyright). At present, I've left notes on the contributor's talk pages. Doctor Sunshine (talk) 02:48, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
- Presumably shots that were released in trailers that lacked copyright notice should be OK. Or is that different in Japan? - Jmabel ! talk 15:50, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- Good point. I assume trailers are still okay 50 years on as the case seems to only have concerned the films. Another point to mention, when screenshots are sourced from DVDs, often the DVD company will hold copyright on the transfer separately from the film's copyright holder especially if restoration work or remastering has been done. That doesn't hold true to trailers either as those seldom get any work done and the restoration and/or remastering is the part that accounts for the "creativity" necessary for a copyright claim. However, all the Kurosawa images I checked were screenshots from the films and should be removed. Doctor Sunshine (talk) 14:43, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Help, please
Hi. I tried following the example in laying out a mass deletion request. What is the "il" where you (or I, anyway) would expect to have "File" or "Image"? And why the transcluding brackets {{ }} rather than the square ones [[ ]] ?. When I tried to use the example format it produced redlinks for the files, which surely isn't very useful? Eventually I made up a list using the following styling: * [[:File:Fale - Capo Mimosa - 310709 - 41.jpg]] , which gave me clickable links that I could then use during the next stage of adding the deletion request to each individual image page. Where did I go wrong? SiGarb (talk) 12:38, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- {{il}} is just a template to generate more links for each of the images (File:Example.png ()). I've no idea why it didn't work for you (maybe you included the File: prefix?), but simple links are just fine too. –Tryphon☂ 13:48, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
