August[edit]

Why not run banner from last week of August saying that the contest would begin from September? -- ♪Karthik♫ ♪Nadar♫ 20:13, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Because a banner asking me to participate for something, but I can't because it has not started yet pisses me off ;-)
If we would do this we would need a different wording. Multichill (talk) 20:23, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sister projects[edit]

There are "help Wikipedia" banners running all over the sister projects. Please, either change the text for the sister project banners or change which projects the banners run on. Having these banners like that is really problematic. --Yair rand (talk) 13:48, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There are several projects benefitted, mostly Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. I agree there's a bias for wikipedia there, as it's what most anons will be familiar with. What text do you suggest to promote the contest in the other sister projects ? Platonides (talk) 13:58, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If it would be reasonable to say that the project is likely to be helped by the monument photographs, simply replace "Wikipedia" with the name of the local project. If not, the banner shouldn't be on that project in the first place. --Yair rand (talk) 14:04, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Yair Rand. It's quite ridiculous. As I recall, there's a possible variable for sitename. It should be used in this case, if I'm not misremembering. Philippe (WMF) (talk) 08:44, 30 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi, I'm admin on lb:Wiki and coordinator for WLM for Luxembourg on wikilovesmonuments.be. Since yesterday, there is a new banner on different Wimedia projets which unfortunately is full of mistakes and does not make any sense in luxembourgish ("Huelt mat del um weltconcour fir wik organisation ze onnerstetzen merci am viraus Wikipedia !"). No idea who "translated" this - certainly no native speaker - and who gave the approval, but it should be changed asap to a text which actually means something. I have put a correct translation in the box, on this page. Could someone copy it to meta and activate it there? Thank you indeed! --Zinneke (talk) 08:25, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I changed it in the banner. Thanks for noticing. Effeietsanders (talk) 22:15, 21 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please correct the eo banner[edit]

"Partoprenu la plej grandan foto-konkurson de la mondo kaj helpu plibonigi Vikipedion!"

Thanks --Arno Lagrange 18:17, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

It has been corrected four minutes before you posted this request here, and immediately after I received an e-mail notification about you changing this page. odder (talk) 14:31, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
