List of requested photos[edit]

I think we need list the above heading in the main page. May be state wise we need list.--Rameshng (talk) 15:16, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, we do. The conversation has been where to source this information from. Once we get support from the Wikiproject groups, we'd like to take this conversation further into how we can do this more effectively on this talk page. Suggestion has been from the list of monuments by Archaeological Survey of India and a list by INTACH or also perhaps a combined list. 101.63.116.163 18:43, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unique ID[edit]

Hello,

How do we define this unique ID? I could not find any information on the many WLM pages. Yann (talk) 10:06, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Delhi[edit]

I would like to volunteer for Delhi, shall I add my name for the city volunteer? --Subhashish Panigrahi (talk) 15:21, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

+1 .. Thanks Subha. --Naveenpf (talk) 02:59, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unreviewed images[edit]

There are many images in Category:WLM 2012 India unreviewed. As i come across many of those while cleaning categories, could i be of any use for reviewing them? What kind of review is exactly required here? All these categories have no description on them. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 11:19, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Got the answer. Its unreviewed as in by the jury. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 04:31, 4 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Results?[edit]

The local result deadline was October 29. Are the results declared and I'm able to find them or they aren't declared yet. If they are not, what is the next deadline? What is the place to check this information. I'm certainly not expecting myself to win it, but am curious to see the top photos! It's a huge task; I know it must be so hard for you folks to manage it, but please make the relevant information available at a handy place. Thank you :-) Shivashree (talk) 03:34, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Shivashree for the patience. We have completed our round one.-- Naveenpf (talk) 11:23, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nominated images from india[edit]

I am really surprised to see the images that have been declared as winners from India (in WLM 2012 winners page). Majority of these images have failed to even qualify as QI (Quality Image), which is a rough indicator of an image's quality. Case in point are entries #2, #3, #5, #7, #10. There's an ongoing debate going on on image #1 as to whether its a QI and as of now more people think its not a QI. Moreover, image #1 and #8 are so small in size (less than 1MB both) I am not sure whether they are going to be of any practical use.

I thought technical quality was one of the important point of judging. If an image is nominated for an international round it should at least be technically good enough to be a QI. I doubt whether the jury had looked at all the images in full resolution.

I believe, the WLM 2012 India contest was not conducted properly. There were many good images, that were not even selected for final round nominations, and even in the final round, I am not sure on what basis, they chose the pictures. Some pictures are clearly over-processed, looks unrealistic. The goal of wiki images should be to represent the monuments as realistically as possible.

Can this be looked into ? Dey.sandip (talk) 18:14, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Where are these debates you reference? What do you want anyone to do to look into this? Participate in discussions? Where are the discussions and the selection process? Blue Rasberry (talk) 19:04, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You can check the entries that failed to qualify as QI from the image files themselves. There would be links that would take you to Quality images candidates Archives and you can see they were marked as "RED" with justifications. For example, for entry #2, check this: Commons:Quality images candidates/Archives October 2012 What I am looking for is that the nominations be re-reviewed. At least all the entries that reached the Round 2 (or Final Round) can be re-evaluated from the perspective of technical quality and usefulness and if applicable, 10 new entries can be sent to International Jury. The WLM 2012 India committee can do that. Being a QI is a very reasonable expectation for an image if it is nominated for the International level. --Dey.sandip (talk) 06:42, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
